Darndale Belcamp Integrated Childcare Service
Situated two miles from Dublin Airport, The Darndale Belcamp Integrated Childcare Service Ltd, was established in January 2001. The centre offers quality childcare for the children and families from the local communities. The centre’s mission is to provide an integrated service to meet the increasing needs of the community for high quality, safe, affordable and inclusive childcare services. The centre promotes the physical, emotional, social and educational well-being of the children and a strong foundation for their lifelong learning.
The Centre is the largest community childcare provider in the country with 260 children aged between 0 and 12 attending daily. The staff team consists of almost 100 dedicated local professional’s working together to help prepare some of Ireland’s most severely socially disadvantaged children for school. The centre participates in the “Ready for School” program and each year ensures that up to 60 pre-schoolers made a positive transition to Junior Infants.
The Centre has been chronically underfunded by government in recent years and even faced closure in 2014. After sharp cuts in some vital services the Centre’s work continues but there is ongoing need for fundraising to avoid further downsizing.
